Family Nutrition Program
Ohio State University Extension partners with the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services to bring the Family Nutrition Program (FNP) to counties throughout Ohio. This program is funded through a grant from the Midwest Regional office of the Food and Nutrition Service, a service established in 1969 to administer the food assistance programs under the USDA.
FNP provides educational programs covering nutrition, food safety, and thrifty shopping in an effort to improve diet quality and food security for individuals and families who are eligible for the food stamp program. These programs are free to those groups that meet the food stamp eligibility income requirements although participants do not have to be receiving food stamps to attend.
We provide programs throughout the community by partnering with agencies such as Even Start, Harbor House, WIC, the Tuscarawas County Senior Center (Mineral City, Newcomerstown, and Jaycee Villa locations), the Homeless Shelter of Tuscarawas County, Job and Family Services, HARCATUS Headstart and HARCATUS Senior Nutrition Program, and the Twin City Christian Services Center.
If you would like more information about the Family Nutrition Program or know of an agency interested in providing nutrition programming, please contact Sharon Cropper at the Tuscarawas County office of Ohio State University Extension.
