Camp Piedmont is located on the banks of Piedmont Lake in Belmont County, Ohio. It is an educational camping facility which promotes learning and social interaction in a natural setting. The camp's wooded grounds and lakeside location allow for study of plantlife, wildlife, and aquaculture.
The camp began as a residential camping facility in the summer of 1948. First launched as a 4-H summer camp, many other groups have used the facility. It currently serves as the site for 4-H camping for eight Ohio counties and one West Virginia county. It offers a wonderful outdoor facility of about 20 acres with access to Piedmont Lake and MWCD public land. A wide variety of uses and activities can be accomodated at Camp Piedmont.
Directions to 4-H Camp Piedmont: Drive south on State Route 800 (out of New Philadelphia) through Smyrna. There is a sharp left turn just south of Smyrna. About four miles after the turn, turn left onto a county road indicated by Camp Piedmont signs. The camp is located approximately three miles from State Route 800. Allow at least one hour from New Philadelphia.
Mission & Vision
4-H Camp Piedmont's mission is to be an outdoor education center for individual development in nature, life skills, team building, and cultural understanding.
The camp provides a setting which allows any group to offer their campers life experiences which develop basic life skills to become self-directing, productive contributing members of society.
Facilities to support educational programs and experiences which lead to an understanding and appreciation of nature and develop a sense of stewardship toward the natural environment.
The atmosphere to develop a cooperative spirit which can provide the opportunity for campers to enhance physical and cognitive skills through group activities and experiences such as: group games/recreational activities, cabin activities, camp facilities responsibilities, evening and special programs, meal time interation, and team challenges.
